August 31, 2025 | @DailyImmigrant — A U.S. judge issued an emergency order stopping the deportation of unaccompanied Guatemalan children—some already boarded on planes. The order, protecting both the 10 minors involved and potentially hundreds more, was granted after an outcry from children’s advocates who argue legal safeguards were bypassed.

🔑 What’s Changing?

  • Deportations have been paused and children are back in federal shelters.
  • The court applied protections under U.S. law for minors.

⚠️ Important Reminders:

  • Policymakers must ensure due process for vulnerable children.
  • The case could set a precedent for future juvenile deportation actions.
